Helpful Information
Billing & Insurance
Grow in Connection is a private pay practice. We do not bill insurance directly, which lets us focus on what your child truly needs rather than what an insurance plan dictates. If you have out-of-network benefits, we’re happy to provide a superbill you can submit for possible reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are also accepted.
List of terms that may be new to you
Child-led: Your child’s interests lead the session, not compliance-based activities.
Neurodiversity Affirming: We see autism as a different way of experiencing the world, not something to fix.
Social-Emotional Approach: We focus on connection first. When children feel safe, regulated, and understood, communication flows naturally.
Multimodal Communication: Honoring all the ways your child communicates (words, gestures, signs, pictures, devices, and more).
AAC - Augmentative and Alternative Communication: Any tool or method that helps your child communicate besides spoken (mouth) words.
Sensory Savvy: Paying attention to how your child’s body takes in and responds to the world (touch, smell, sounds, tastes, lights, etc.) and supporting those needs so they feel safe, regulated, and ready to connect and learn.
GLP - Gestalt Language Processor: Some children learn language in whole phrases first, then break them into smaller pieces. Those ‘scripts’ (echolalia, repeating) are real communication with real meaning.
Echolalia: Repeating phrases (right away or later) is a valid step in language development, not something to stop.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Send me an email and we’ll schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. We’ll talk through your concerns, answer your questions, and decide together if we’re a good fit to work together.
-
An evaluation usually takes about 90 minutes. I’ll use play, conversation, caregiver questionnaires, and standardized tests when they’re a good fit for your child. Together, we’ll explore your child’s strengths and the areas where your child and family could use support. You’ll receive a written evaluation report with key findings and a plan of care with personalized goals, and we’ll go over it together at our first therapy session so you can ask any questions.
-
Sessions usually last 45 minutes, twice a week, and can happen at home, daycare, school, a park, or wherever works best for your family. They’re hands-on, play-based, and focused on skills your child can use in everyday life. My approach is mindfully child-led: I join your child in what they love, then add just the right amount of challenge to help them grow. Sessions feel like play, but each one has a purpose.
